Let see… if I were to look back over my own work for this class, I would have to say “THAT MAKING A TRAILER IS NOT EASY!” it’s harder than it seems with all the time put in, alongside dedication and of course charisma that's needed to make an interesting film.(Which me and the guys had no problem with because were full of it). Now even though I said it’s not easy, it’s sure is lots of fun and cool experience where a lot of creativity and ideas burst out of nowhere. To be specific the annoying part about making a filming would have to be traveling to certain locations and having to re-visit those places time after time again especially if the weather sucks!. The fun part would have to be acting a fool while running around and having fun with a purpose and letting your creative side take over.
Now if there’s a blog that I found useful and valuable, it would have to by Will Bik from the other ENG 102 class. His blog on archetypes was really useful to me, due to the fact that he had the same archetype as me. He pretty much explained his archetype in different perspective, in one which I over looked in a big way which made me realize what a warrior archetype would mean to many others and myself. He went into full detail providing a history on the warrior he provided and how it related to him, in one day wanting to become a fire fighter, which would make perfect sense on how he described the whole thing.
Never the less the whole experience from this course was great, which I already knew it would be due to the fact that I had one of Dr. Jason Smith class before. Which is the reason, I decide to take his class once again. Sadly to say Dr. Jason Smith doesn’t teach any other class that I need. I wish he did because I would be more than happy to take it. Especially with projects like making a trailer, you can't go wrong.

Blog Entry: 4.1

So far we've gathered our equipment and planned to start filming either this friday or saturday. There isn't much to say besides what you dont already know. As you can see from my Blog Entry:3.4 which is exactly what the team and i, hope for everything to look like at the end. Just maybe on a short budget with the whole, special effects things.
Blog Entry: 3.5 (In Class Essay)
My primary archetype is being a Warrior, and this archetype to me resemble a lot of things good and bad I mostly look at it as being a good thing. Some would say the warrior archetype is more of a negative archetype, rather than a positive. Just simple because, one would say or think that having a warrior archetype is more about being violent and filled with aggression, in a sense that a warrior would only be built for self-destruction. I find that having a warrior archetype is made to my advantage it makes me competitive adds more fuel to the fire, makes me really want to get what I want as well more enjoyable after getting it. The warrior archetype resembles someone who is loyal; fights for what they believe in, and have a tendency of overcoming adversity with the strength and courage to never give up, pretty much imposing their will and dominance with the heart and desire of getting what they want. Now with that being a positive also adds a negative side to it. Having all those traits, can most of the time blow up in your face, as well leave you at big disadvantage, especially not knowing when to give up can just ruin all your hard work and leave you with nothing.
I myself saw these traits of being a warrior in Coraline, in chapter six when she’s looking for clothes to put on and finds nothing but costume’s in her cupboard and one of the costume’s was a future warrior costume. That alone to me was a sure sign that she has a warrior archetype in her. In chapter seven coralline warrior archetypes, really starts to come out when she makes her deal with other mother that if she could find her parents she has to let them all go but if she does not complete the task that’s at hand, she is forced to stay with other mother forever. Now Coraline is willing to be courageous enough to fight for what she wants as well be willing to be ready to sacrifice herself for her parents. She is also fighting for what she believes in which is living with other mother is not the life for her and is not what she wants. While trying to complete her goal by any means necessary she gets past the obstacle of the other father as well running into the children that other mother used to love. Additionally Coraline realize that this might be her fate if she does not defeat other mother.
However, even after rescuing her parents. Coraline still decide to fight to rescue the three children. Nevertheless, the journey does not end there even after defeating other mother. Coraline steps up to the challenge of keeping other mother severed hand as well as the key away from the door to the other world by dropping it down a well. Therefore, Coraline then accept her life for what it is and goes back to living a normal life with no complaints. Having Coraline accept the role of being a warrior made me understand what she has to do and why she is doing it. She fights to be keep her original family that she love and does not want to lose them, so it’s like not having a choice really and just stepping up to the challenge and of course being brave.
Now I don’t really know if other’s knowing my archetype helps them understand the story better because the story starts off with Coraline being a wanderer and an innocent it’s not really towards the end of the book starting from chapter seven, that I see Coraline warrior archetype really show.

The reason I choose this video to represent my perception of Macbeth, is simply because I believe it really shows Macbeth real frame of mind. Additionally this video pretty much sum’s everything up in six minutes and fifty-one second. Also including the rhyming weird sister witches, who show Macbeth what the good news is. However the good news to Macbeth is actually scary news to him, just because it was exactly what was on his mind, Macbeth was already thinking about being king. Nevertheless even though this video might pretty graphic and a little disturbing to some during the beginning, but it gets straight to the point and really shows Macbeth psychotic obsession with being king. The video of Macbeth explains a beloved warrior knight who kills his king and lives by fair is foul.

The lucky picture of Macbeth that I have chosen out of the millions over the internet, is the one that fits my perception of Macbeth after reading the summary of Macbeth on Wikipedia. It shows how I envisioned Macbeth as i was reading it, as a knight warrior with some armor and of course a sword. Macbeth stance in the picture and facial expression represent his warrior archetype, where he sort of looks like he is in a trance as if he is ready to attack. On the other hand, as if a lion is hunting it’s pray. With his hands and finger tips around his sword, it shows as if he is trying to impose some type of fear, to say he can strike at any moment. In his facial expression, he looks like he is not afraid to do what is needed to be done. From what I read on Wikipedia, I know Macbeth has a warrior archetype just by knowing he has been in a battle and had won by defeating the allied force from Norway and Ireland by a traitor Macdonwald. Additionally as being the king kinsman, Macbeth is known for doing all the dirty work to battle it out to defend and killing all adversary’s that oppose him or the king. But just like all warrior archetype there is a thrive of completing something or reaching a certain goal that sets off an adventure and bunch of obstacles, and for Macbeth that journey begins when he wants to become king.

Blog Entry 2.2: Archetype (Warrior)

I find it pretty funny and ironic that my archetype is a warrior, just because i recently had just seen the movie “Gladiator” about a week ago. So when I found out my archetype was a warrior automatically I thought about the movie. For those of you who are familiar with the warrior archetype and have seen the movie Gladiator absolutely know what I’m talking about when I say Maximus is a true and prime example of a warrior. The warrior archetype resembles someone who is loyal, fights for what they believe in, and have a tendency of overcoming adversity with the strength and courage to never give up, pretty much imposing their will and dominance with the heart and desire. The picture above is from the movie “Gladiator” it’s the scene where Maximus is fighting the legendary Titus the god, in a very unfair fight for his life. It just really resemble what a warrior is to me in my opinion. He is defying the odds and overcoming adversity just simply by imposing his will in a battle against a very large and intimidating opponent, as well surviving with three tigers surrounding them as they battle for dominance. Another aspect of being a warrior is simply competitiveness, the will to compete which reminds of the modern day warrior, which in my opinion is a UFC (MMA) fighter. Just like Gladiator’s, UFC fighters compete and battle in similar arenas that have changed from the roman era to the year 2010. If you take a look at the two pictures shown below you can see the comparison. Additionally with a comparison of Gladiators and UFC (MMA) fighters.

So as you can see, the gladiator days have evolved a lot.

Blog Entry 2.1: Symbolism and Archetypes in "Goblin Market"

What I’ve learned about Christina Rossetti is that her actual name is Christina Georgina Rossetti. Christina was born in London England on December, 5, 1830, where she grew up to be one of the most important woman poets of the 19th century in England. Christina Rossetti was known as a woman poet who wrote a variety of romantic, devotional, and children’s poems. Whenever Christina Rossetti comes to mind people will most likely remember her for her famous poems, such as, Goblin Market, In the Bleak Midwinter, and her love poem Remember. The web sources I used for Christina Rossetti were - http://www.victorianweb.org/authors/crossetti/bioov.html and - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christina_Rossetti
Now on her poem The Goblin Market it’s about these two girls Laura and Lizzie who are sister hearing cry’s from goblins to come buy fruit from them, they ignore it but only Laura is tempted enough to go see what is going on. Soon enough Laura is being offered a fruit by a goblin. Laura not having any money offered some of her hair in exchange for some fruit, the goblin agrees and in joy Laura starts to eat the fruit on her way home. But after eating the goblin fruit she Laura starts to become very ill, and Lizzie being worried of her sister illness goes to the goblin market to find the source of her sister illness. When Lizzie arrives to the goblin market with only mere money. Additionally the goblins weren’t too pleasant with Lizzie attitude of nothing letting herself be tempted like her sister. The goblins start assaulting and forcefully trying to make her eat the fruit. While having her mouth shut, Lizzie was able to runaway with the goblin fruit juice around her face and body. As she gets to the house she now has Laura digest the remaining fruit juices in order for her to start her transformation of becoming well. Then as they grow from their experience and later on grow older and become mothers and wives, they now share their story to their children about the dangers of the goblin fruit and how strong there sisterly bond is.
From Christina Rossetti The Goblin Market, I picked up a few symbolism of imagery that she implanted in this poem. She wanted her readers to visualize, what was actually going on. Main symbol I found was obvious, “Fruit”. The Fruit resemble temptation and the desire of wanting more as being forbidden and the birth of evil. Sort of like the whole Adam and Eve story, where Eve was tempted to eat the forbidden apple, just like how Laura was tempted by the goblins to eat thier fruit.I honestly think this was just a poem that relates to Adam and Eve in a way. In my opinion, this poem has subliminal perverted imagery that gets across. But then again as I did, my research on Christina Rossetti her poem The Goblin Market was not entitled as children poem to begin with.

Blog Entry 1.3 Poetry Symbolism (Essay 1)
Ok so basically I chose a song that pretty much gives itself away once you hear the title of it. The song is called Psycho by Puddle of Mudd, the song is filled with symbols that relate to the theme of this course, the main word used in this song is what I believe what makes this song somewhat link itself to the theme of this course. Additionally that word is Schizophrenic which by its definition is someone who has Schizophrenia. “Schizophrenia is a mental disorder that makes it difficult to tell the difference between real and unreal experiences, to think logically, to have normal emotional responses, and to behave normally in social situations”. Now someone with a mental disorder like that can create a fantasy/ dream world like no other, and with that said, that’s simply powerful enough to bend your own reality. Now with the course theme being about the Supernatural. (Quick definition of the supernatural is “Departing from what is usual or normal especially so as to appear to transcend the laws of nature”.) Now having schizophrenia defiantly starts departing you from what is usual or normal, or at least it lets you believe everything is normal, sort of making the unreal seem real. If you watch the video of this song it translates very well with the theme of this course, it shows how far this one guy can go with having schizophrenia, having situation where is attacked by famous horror figures . what catches my attention is that nearly at the end of this song you hear him say “Maybe You’re the One” making it seem as if, it’s not him with schizophrenia, then has to be you with schizophrenia trying to making you believe everything that you just saw is what really happened in the kind of way of trying to confuse you on what is a real and unreal experience departing you from what is usual. The video has a somewhat pretty funny parody of the movie “I Know What You Did Last Summer” if you care to watch, the video is below with lyrics right under it.
Lyrics:
"Psycho"
[Said twice]
Maybe I'm the one
Maybe I'm the one who is the schizophrenic psycho (yeah)
[Verse 1]
She lays down on the fresh lawn
She can make everything magical
But she tied one on big time
And it makes me wanna rewind
To back in the days when we were young
When everything was like a loaded gun
Ready to go off at any minute
And you know we're gonna win again (yeah) [x3]
[Chorus:]
Maybe I'm the one
Maybe I'm the one who is the schizophrenic psycho (yeah)
Maybe I'm the one
Maybe I'm the one who is the paranoid Flake-oh
[Verse 2]
She lays down on the sidewalk
Never very analytical
She is something simply beautiful
Re-appear when you feel magical
To back in the days when we were young
When everything was like a loaded gun
Ready to go off at any minute
Yeah you know we're gonna win again
[Chorus]
You're the one, you're the one who is the schizophrenic psycho [3x]
Back in the days when we were young
When everything was like a loaded gun
Ready to go off at any minute
And you know we're gonna win again
[Chorus]
You're the one, you're the one who is the schizophrenic psycho!

Blog "Entry 1.2: Internet Research"

In my days of work bugging myself on trying to find a mythological being, worth writing about I have grown fond of Hermes. Hermes is the God of many things, making him stand out to me more than any other Greek mythology God. Even though every God is specific in detail, Hermes stands out by being the God of many things and not just one thing, for example.
“HERMES was the great Olympian God of animal husbandry, roads, travel, hospitality, heralds, diplomacy, trade, thievery, language, writing, persuasion, cunning wiles, athletic contests, gymnasiums, astronomy, and astrology.” - http://www.theoi.com/Olympios/Hermes.html
I used http://www.theoi.com/Olympios/Hermes.html, which was very useful and gets straight to the point on Hermes life story; other websites just bored me on countless filler that just made me not want to read anything anymore. This website provided me with the information I need to stay focused on Hermes, who in my opinion is the most intresting God. What I like most about Hermes son of Zeus and Maia, the daughter of Atlas, Is labeled as handsome and athletic, so if I would ever want a God’s persona, it would most likely have to come from Hermes. Being born in a cave of mount Cyllene in Arcadia, he grew up to be the personal agent and herald of Zeus, the king of the Gods. What is cool about this hell raiser is that in the first hour of being born he escaped from his cradle and went to Pieiria, and carried off some of the oxen of Apollo, God of the sun. Additionally from that point he was labeled as a thief, such as the many more thing he is. In those actions of thieft Hermes did not want to be discovered by the trace of his footsteps, Hermes then put on sandals and drove the oxen to Pylos, where he killed two, and concealed the rest in a cave. Cool fact on Hermes is that he is the fastest of all the Gods, which makes him an Olympian God and has not aged since reaching adulthood, “His attributes included the herald's wand or kerykeion (Latin caduceus), winged boots, and sometimes a winged travellers cap and chlamys cloak.” - http://www.theoi.com/Olympios/Hermes.html.
